Cinemax asked us to develop a campaign to create awareness and excitement for Outcast, a possession-themed horror show from Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead.

Using eye-tracking technology, we created an interactive trailer designed to be terrifying whether your eyes are open or closed. Close your eyes and you hear the goading voice of an infernal presence along with spine-tingling sound effects in 360º audio; open them and you see chilling visions of demonic possession. These complementary parallel narratives introduce the audience to the key elements in the mythology of the show: the harrowing visual montage introduces the symptoms of possession while the 3D audio component introduces the disease—a nefarious, omniscient presence who is taking control of people’s minds for an unknown purpose.
