As lead designer on this campaign leading up to the premiere of the A&E mini-series, Stephen King’s Bag of Bones, I was responsible for designing a website and a book showcasing Joachim Ladefoged’s photographs of the characters who inhabit the town of Dark Score Lake, where Bag of Bones takes place.

The site presented visitors with a photo essay on Dark Score Lake, the setting of the show, along with voiceover commentary by the actors, in character.

To engage Stephen King fans, over 100 artifacts—references to King’s stories—were placed into the photographs. Some were physical props placed into the scenes on location; others were created digitally and composited into the shots, like the album covers seen in the music store.

We created cinemagraphs—isolated animations within a still image—to evoke the creepiness lurking just below the surface of Dark Score Lake.

The book was sent to influencers and Stephen King fans to generate buzz around the upcoming mini-series.

The book and the site concealed clues to unlock exclusive content for fans to discover and share.
